A Dive Specialist is a subset that allows divers to gain valuable skills in different areas. A Diver with a Specialty can learn to make every dive a better experience. This type is usually specialized in a certain area of diving and may specialize in particular equipment. Some of these specialties include Enriched Air Nitrox (EANx), Boat Diving, and Deep Scuba. You can learn more about these diving specialty below.

Enriched Air Nitrox

You can learn more about the benefits of enriched air by becoming a PADI Enriched Air Diver (Nitrox). The specialty course includes independent study, practical exercises, and two optional nitrox dives. The course is designed to be completed online or offline, and you can complete it on your own time, regardless of where you plan on diving. For this specialization, you will need a scuba tank that meets special oxygen service standards.

Underwater Photography

Divers who enjoy taking pictures will find diving a great way expand their knowledge and skills. Underwater photography is just one of the many specialties that you can learn. You will learn the basics and techniques for underwater photography in this course. The course will also teach you about underwater lighting, composition, and how to use it. Additionally, you will learn proper etiquette for underwater photography and how to properly photograph them. PADI eLearning will teach you underwater photography and connect with an instructor.


Boat Diving

The PADI Boat Diver Specialty Course can help you learn the basics of boat diving, no matter if you're new to the sport or an experienced diver. This course will teach you about diving boats, proper etiquette and entry and exit procedures. It also teaches you how to pack your gear for the trip. Also, the course covers boat safety and handling emergencies while on water.

Deep Scuba

There are many Deep Scuba Diving specialties. Advanced Diver certification means that certified divers can dive deeper than the initial dive. Deep Scuba divers must be able to recognize the effects of pressure and breathing when diving. Their body functions and systems are more vulnerable as they descend deeper. A safe deep dive should be planned and executed. Some specialties require additional training. There are some prerequisites to be certified.
