Scuba Diving St Lucia

There are plenty of options for scuba diving in St Lucia. You will find some spectacular dives near the Anse Chastanet. These dives can be enjoyed by anyone, even those who don’t feel confident scuba diving. These dives are between 10 and 25 feet long and include some of the most beautiful corals.

Anse Chastanet Reef

Anse Chastanet, a resort on 600 acres, has two volcanic black beaches and pristine corals. There are many water sports available, including snorkeling and scuba diving. You can either relax on the beach, or take part in guided hikes. There is also an organic farm on the estate and a chocolate lab.

Ansechastanet has won many awards, including five Best in Readers' Selection awards. It is a great dive site for beginner divers as well as experienced divers. The reef features wrecks, wall diving, and boat diving. Night dives are popular on the Anse Chastanet Reef.

Dani Koyomaru

There are a variety of options for scuba divers wanting to dive in Saint Lucia. There are two options for divers who want to dive in Saint Lucia: Rosemond's Trench is smaller but just as impressive; or deeper waters. This site is known for its large schools of tropical fish, giant man-sized sponges, and intricate coral formations. It is also an excellent place to view the Saint Lucia reef system.


The Daini Koyomaru shipwreck is located a few miles further from the coast. In 1996, this Japanese dredger was sunk. The ship is partially submerged and the superstructure holds the wreck. As well as inscribed Japanese and other languages, there are visible upturned decks.

Dani Koyomaru Dredger

It is an amazing wreck to dive. The Daini Koyomaru, which was a Japanese fishing boat, was dredged in 1996. It's 74 meters long and about twenty-four meters tall. Sunk on its side, the dredger is now a safe dive site for experienced divers. Among its resident marine life are French angelfish, garden eels, moray eels, and barracudas.

Another popular St Lucia dive site is the 165 foot cargo ship Lesleen M. It's a Japanese dredger. Although this site has shallow depths, it is home to some fascinating creatures such as scorpionfish and flying dragonflies.

Soufriere Marine Management Area

Scuba diving in St Lucia's Soufriere Marine Management Area is a great way to get closer to the island's beautiful coral reefs. The marine management zone was created to preserve the area's pristine waters and support a healthy ecosystem. It was established because of environmental degradation and conflict between resource users. SMMA was created in response to conflicts between local fishermen (scuba divers) and the SMMA.

The Soufriere Pitons site has been a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2004. It is managed as an area of nature reserve, and offers some of the best diving in St Lucia. You will find many coral species here, and a lot of tropical fish. The area is known for its passage of predators and cetaceans. Divers can observe the stunning marine biodiversity.
