Dani Koyomaru

Saint Lucia has many options for divers who are interested in diving. You have the option to visit Rosemond's Trench which is smaller but no less impressive. Or, you can explore deeper waters. This area is famous for its massive schools of tropical fish and giant sponges the size of men. It also has intricate coral formations. The famous Saint Lucia underwater reef system can be viewed by diving here.

A few miles from the coast, the Daini Koyomaru is a wreck. This Japanese dredger fell in 1996. The wreck remains partially submerged. It is supported by the superstructure. The ship's decks are visible and there are inscriptions in Japanese, English, and other languages.

Dani Koyomaru dragger

Daini Koyomaru, an old Japanese fishing vessel, was dredged to its current location in 1996. It's a spectacular wreck to dive. It measures approximately 74 meters long by 24 meters high. The dredger, which is sunken on its side now makes it a safe place for experienced divers to dive. Among its resident marine life are French angelfish, garden eels, moray eels, and barracudas.

The 165-foot cargo ship Lesleen M, a Japanese dredger, is another popular St Lucia dive site. The depths at this site are not very deep, but the reef is home a lot of fascinating creatures like scorpionfish, flying grunards, and even rays.

Soufriere Marine Management Area

Scuba diving in St Lucia's Soufriere Marine Management Area is a great way to get closer to the island's beautiful coral reefs. This marine management area was established to preserve the waters and foster a healthy ecosystem. Its establishment was inspired by environmental degradation and conflict among resource users. The SMMA was primarily created because of conflicts between local fishermen and scuba divers.

Since 2004, the Soufriere Pictons site is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is managed to be a nature reserve. This site boasts some the best diving in St Lucia. The site is home of many coral species and has a large number of tropical fish. The passage of many species of cetaceans as well as predators is another reason for this area being so popular. Divers have the opportunity to observe the amazing marine biodiversity.
